Description:
A shrine was built on this spot in 16 AH or around 637 AD to commemorate the prophet Yunus (Jonah). Centuries later in 1393 AD Tamurlane tore down the shrine and built a mosque on the spot. That mosque faced Mecca. The yellow line on the photo below faces Mecca. The orientation of the earlier shine cannot be determined.
