Description:
This Ottoman style mosque was rebuilt using striking pink-and-white stone in 1924 by the late King Abdullah I on the site of an ancient mosque built originally by Omar ibn Al-Khattab the 2nd Caliph of Islam. It is probably also, the site of the Cathedral of Roman Philadelphia. The modern mosque faces Mecca. There is no trace of the earlier Omari mosque.
