Description:
Dan Gibson reports: “I received a letter from a viewer who reported that the mosque of Sheikh Abdul Qader Yagouri at Béni Abbès in Algeria has a parallel orientation to the Petra-Mecca axis (30°08’00.5”N 2°09’50.3”W). This has not been confirmed by “on the ground” examination. This report is most likely not true, as others report that oldest religious building is the Old Ksar’s mosque, which dates back to 1605.”
Our conclusion is that this is a poorly aligned mosque, dating back at the earliest to the 14th or 15th centuries.
