## Hard Questions 1. (Isaiah 44:28-45:7) A very specific prophecy about Cyrus. Calls him by name over a century before he comes into the story, and God specifically says He's called Cyrus even before he knows Him. 2. Observation: Isaiah 53, the gospel; Isaiah 56, good news for eunuchs to be accepted by God. The Ethiopian eunuch is reading Isaiah 53 when he has the encounter with Philip. He believes, is baptized, and continues on his way. What would it have been like for him to get to Isaiah 56 after that? 3. (Isaiah 66:22-24) “And it shall come to pass that from one New Moon to another, all flesh shall come to worship before Me," says the LORD. “And they shall go forth and look upon the corpses of the men who have transgressed against Me. For their worm does not die, and their fire is not quenched. They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.” What’s going on here? 4. Manasseh’s reign in 2 Kings 21. (2 Kings 23:26; 24:3-4) “Nevertheless the LORD did not turn from the fierceness of His great wrath, with which His anger was aroused against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked Him . . . . Surely at the commandment of the LORD this came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all he had done, and also because of the innocent blood that he had shed; for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, which the LORD would not pardon.”
