Gazelles frolic where people once lived. All around the edge of the Petra valley, tombs were carved into the walls of the mountain. Today visitors come to see the tombs, but the gazelles are gone.

The Romans spent a lot of money buying frankincense from the Nabataeans. They eventually sent an army to find the source of frankensence. The only guide they could find was a Nabataean who used the Red Sea and then the desert to eventually defeat the Roman army. Imagine one man defeating a whole army! It's just one of many very interesting stories from Nabataean history.
