The Nabataean Empire existed during the period between 400
BC and 160 AD. The Nabataeans as a people existed long before
this and were acknowledged as a distinct people as late as 700
AD, with comments being made about them in Islamic literature
as late as 900 AD. In order to understand the Nabataean people,
it is important to understand how they fit into the general history
of the Middle East.
In light of this the Nabataea.net research team has prepared
a number of papers that demonstrate how the Chronologies of the
Bible interact with the Assyrian, Babylonian and Egyptian Chronologies.
While these papers will be mostly of interest to Bible scholars,
they do provide interesting and helpful background in understanding
the wider picture of how the Nabataeans fit into the historical
context of the Middle East. Most of these papers were originally
published in the 1930's and are reprinted here for easy access
by Bible students.
