Qur’anic Geography 2011

by Dan Gibson

Independent Scholars Press, an imprint of CanBooks.

This is Dan Gibson’s first book that dealt with Islamic Qiblas. Most of this book deals with geography as mentioned in the Qur’an, or the lack thereof. Gibson covers the Bible’s Founding of the Nations, then he compares the People of ‘Ad mentioned in the Quran with the people of ‘Uz mentioned in the Bible. Gibson also looks at the people of Midian mentioned in both the Bible and the Qur’an. The Qur’anic people of Thamud are examined next. Gibson looks at pre-Islamic Arabia, and ends with a look at Islam’s Holy City. He located the first holy city of Islam, by following the Qibla direction of early mosques. The book ends with a timeline of early Islam, an annotated bibliography, a look at early Qur’ans, and a bibliography of secondary sources. Complete with an index. Hard cover. 463 pages
