New Book Release: Let The Stones Speak Download PDF

All the photos showing old stone buildings, bridges and embankments, were build by the Turkish army, and were part of the Hejaz railway. The line to Beer Sheva, continuing south to Kosseima, were called “the Egyptian branch of Hejaz railway” (from Moshe Zaharia, Beer Sheba.Israel)

The rail line south from Beer Sheba was rebuilt by the British army during the First World War and the metal bridge was constructed in 1917. Work on the line started in 1917 until July 1927. It continued to use the Turkish station infrastructure.

Special thanks to Jackob Zilberstein for sending us these photos.
