Shoubak Castle

This crusader castle was known as “Mont Real.” It is located about an hour north of Petra. The castle’s exterior is impressive, with a large gate and encircling triple wall. Despite the precautions of its builder, the fortress fell to Saladin only 75 years after it was built. Below: Exploring the top of the castle ruins.

Above: Arabic Inscriptions were added to the castle walls after Saladin captured it.
