PETRA: The Bedul
The Bedul are a small tribe of Bedouin who used to live
in the caves in Petra. The Jordaian goverment built them a small
village north of Petra proper with schools and modern utilities.
Below are some pictures of the Bedul merchants you might meet
while visiting Petra.

This picture was taken in the early
1980's when the Bedul still lived in the caves in Petra. In the
center of the picture a lady is making cheese/butter. Milk is
placed in an animal skill and shaken. |
